Neco 2024 Physics Question 16
Practice objective / multiple choice question 16 from the 2024 Neco Physics examination.
A long solenoid of length \(L=0.50\) m and radius \(r=2.0\) cm is wound with \(N\) turns. It carries a sinusoidal current \(I(t)=I_{0}\sin(\omega t)\) where \(I_{0}=5\) A and \(\omega =200\pi\) rad s\(^{-1}\). The solenoid is placed in series with a resistor \(R=10\ \Omega\). The magnetic field at the centre of the solenoid must be \(0.02\) T when the current is at its peak. A secondary coil of \(N_{2}=200\) turns is wound over the same length and is connected across a resistor \(R_{L}=10\ \Omega\). Determine the maximum instantaneous power dissipated in the load resistor.
