Read the following passage and then write a summary of no more than 50 words. Your summary must state the main idea and include two of the supporting points presented in the passage. "Climate change is accelerating at an unprecedented rate, driven largely by the burning of fossil fuels which releases large quantities of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere. This rise in greenhouse gases traps heat, leading to higher global temperatures, melting polar ice caps and more extreme weather events. In addition, deforestation reduces the planet's capacity to absorb carbon, further worsening the problem. Scientists warn that if emissions are not curbed within the next decade, the consequences could become irreversible, threatening food security, water supplies and biodiversity worldwide. However, renewable energy technologies, such as solar and wind power, are becoming more affordable and could play a crucial role in mitigating these impacts if adopted widely."

Answer Options
