Neco 2017 Government Objective / Multiple Choice Hard Difficulty
Question 9 NECO • 2017 • GOVERNMENT • objective

A local government council has an initial annual revenue of \(90\) million naira, distributed as follows: property rates \(40\%\), federal allocation \(30\%\), local taxes \(20\%\) and other income \(10\%\). The council may increase each revenue source by the same uniform percentage \(p\%\). After the increase, \(10\%\) of the total revenue must be set aside as a reserve and cannot be spent. The spendable amount must satisfy three conditions: (i) the amount spent on the primary‑school renovation (\(30\) million) may not exceed \(30\%\) of the spendable amount; (ii) the amount spent on the road‑repair project (\(45\) million) may not exceed \(40\%\) of the spendable amount; (iii) the amount spent on the health‑clinic upgrade (\(40\) million) must be at least \(25\%\) of the spendable amount. The council wishes to fund all three projects. Determine the minimum uniform percentage increase \(p\) (to one decimal place) required to meet all conditions.
