Question 44 GCE_MODEL_QUESTIONS_VOL1 • 2018 • PHYSICS • objective

An ideal solenoid 0.50 m long has 800 turns and carries a time‑varying current \(I(t)=I_{0}\sin(\omega t)\) with \(I_{0}=5.0\;\text{A}\) and \(\omega =200\pi\;\text{rad s}^{-1}\). A circular conducting loop of radius 0.10 m and resistance 2.0 Ω is placed coaxially at the centre of the solenoid. (a) Find the maximum magnitude of the emf induced in the loop. (b) Find the maximum current that flows in the loop. (c) When the current in the solenoid is at its maximum value, a particle of charge \(+e\) moves through the centre of the solenoid perpendicular to the magnetic field with speed \(2.0\times10^{6}\;\text{m s}^{-1}\). Calculate the magnetic force on the particle at that instant.

Answer Options

A. (a) ≈ 0.25 V, (b) ≈ 0.12 A, (c) ≈ 4.0×10⁻¹⁵ N
Correct Answer B. (a) ≈ 0.20 V, (b) ≈ 0.10 A, (c) ≈ 3.2×10⁻¹⁵ N
C. (a) ≈ 0.15 V, (b) ≈ 0.07 A, (c) ≈ 2.5×10⁻¹⁵ N
D. (a) ≈ 0.18 V, (b) ≈ 0.09 A, (c) ≈ 3.8×10⁻¹⁵ N
Correct Answer
B
Correct Option:
(a) ≈ 0.20 V, (b) ≈ 0.10 A, (c) ≈ 3.2×10⁻¹⁵ N
