Gce Model Questions Vol1 2018 Physics Question 17
Practice objective / multiple choice question 17 from the 2018 Gce Model Questions Vol1 Physics examination.
A resistor has a resistance of \(6.0\ \Omega\) at \(20^{\circ}\text{C}\) and a temperature coefficient of resistance \(\alpha =2.0\times10^{-3}\ \text{°C}^{-1}\). It is connected in series with a battery of emf \(E\) and internal resistance \(r\). When the resistor is at \(20^{\circ}\text{C}\) the current measured is \(2.00\ \text{A}\). When the resistor is uniformly heated to \(50^{\circ}\text{C}\) the current falls to \(1.90\ \text{A}\). Determine (a) the internal resistance \(r\) of the battery and (b) the emf \(E\) of the battery.
