Gce Model Questions Vol1 2017 Further Mathematics Question 28
Practice objective / multiple choice question 28 from the 2017 Gce Model Questions Vol1 Further Mathematics examination.
A particle of mass \(1.5\,\text{kg}\) is projected up a rough incline that is \(3\,\text{m}\) long and makes an angle of \(25^{\circ}\) with the horizontal. The coefficient of kinetic friction on the rough part is \(\mu=0.10\). At the top of the rough incline the particle immediately reaches a smooth incline of the same angle that continues for a further \(5\,\text{m}\). Determine the minimum initial speed at the bottom of the rough incline (in \(\text{m s}^{-1}\)) required for the particle to just reach the top of the smooth incline and come to rest there. Use \(g=9.8\,\text{m s}^{-2}\).
